Citibank Online and Mobile Banking Services in Hong Kong

Citibank Online and Mobile Banking Services in Hong Kong

Citibank is currently one of the global leaders in the banking industry. Citibank Hong Kong serves clients in 48 branches spread between Macau, Kowloon, New Territories and Hong Kong Island.

Due to the rapid increase in access to technology and the need for ease of access to services, online and mobile banking platforms have rapidly gained popularity among the clients who prefer to gain access to services that previously required a branch visit in order to access services.

The bank’s online platform allows clients to access various services such as:

  • account balance
  • payments and transfers
  • investments
  • credit card
  • insurance
  • Citi Alerts
  • e-statements
  • and e-alerts.

The platform also comes with three levels of security, allowing users to work easy knowing that their data is secure.

  1. The first of these features is a strong 128 BIT encryption that scrambles and reassembles any data that is sent between the bank and the user’s PC.
  2. All clients will also be expected to have a personal password that they will be prompted to input each time they log onto the system.
  3. Lastly, the system also has an automatic time out that closes the session after 15 minutes of inactivity.

How to apply

In order to register for an online banking, the client will need to already hold a bank account. They can then create an online account by following the link and clicking on register.

Once that has been done, they will need to input their card number, account number and a PIN. They will then need to create a user ID and password. If all these steps are followed correctly the account will be created and ready to use.

Mobile banking

The mobile banking platform offers an array of services such as payments and transfers, stock services, account info and time deposits.

Any client that has an online account can use the same user ID and a password to access mobile banking.

The platform is accessible either through the browser on a clinet’s mobile phone, or through the official app. To access mobile banking through the browser, customers simply need to go the bank’s site and input the same user ID and a password that they use for online banking.

Users who have either and iPhone or an Android phone can use the official app, as it is easier to access and more user-friendly than the browser version, as well as has enhanced security features.

The app is available either on the App Store or Google Play under the name ‘Citibank HK’, and is compatible with iOS 5.1.1 or later or Android OS 4.4 or later. The app comes with key and security features to ensure optimum protection of the user’s data. One of these is the Touch ID sensor that allows users to log into the app using their fingerprint.
